Buckle up, because you're in for a wild ride with this book! I am so looking forward to the next book in this series - the suspense is killing me!!!
I received this book from the author through a book giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I dnf's at the end of Chapter 1. Just thinking about him made my heart race I sighed and folded my arms across my chest I loved my parents to death but they were being ridiculous I was an expert fake snorer Time for phase My bunny slippers that my dad had bought me were much more awesome I was purposely tryi I dnf's at the end of Chapter 1.
I was purposely trying to push her buttons How would you know? Yes, we are told she is 8 dear god that appalling 'almost two hands' had me nearly puking but she reads like some street weary woman with numerous failed affairs behind her.
I have never, ever , ever read such a repulsive child. If she was meant to be portrayed as some sort of child genius then do it properly ffs!!!
View 2 comments. I would categorize this book as a romantic suspense thriller. The beginning threw me off from the unexpected plot; that was so captivating and riveting that I bypassed sleep.
Who needs sleep when the story is better than a dream? It was so easy to connect with the characters. I yelled at the end, "Are you kidding me! Which, I purchased immediately as a Christmas present to myself.
I purchased the whole se I would categorize this book as a romantic suspense thriller. I purchased the whole series, a total of three books. The series is available on Kindle Unlimited.
Having loved the book so much, I felt the need to own the series to add to my library. Nov 29, S. A wasted evening How many ways can I say I was bored with the storyline.
It barely held my interest. It started slowly and never picked up. It is not romantic suspense, it reminded me of a cheesy WB show that I.
Smoak tried to make interesting but fell flat. Sadie had potential but it was like she was in the wrong story. A plot with so much potential -- characters who definitely intrigue -- and the suspense is riveting.
But there's a lot of unnecessary repeats and page filler that just clogs the storyline. I would think the author would find more willi A plot with so much potential -- characters who definitely intrigue -- and the suspense is riveting.
I would think the author would find more willing readers if she knocked several dollars off the price of each one. Although I did find the first book entertaining, I'm not sure I'll continue on with the other two.
I'm pretty certain I know who the Vigilante is -- and, of course, there are some reviewers who have pretty much confirmed my thoughts. It was like a new writer took the second half of the book to wrap it up.
Was this a young adult book? It reads like a teenage girls diary! I struggle to finish, and think I was generous with three stars!
Oct 24, Coco. There are enough unanswered questions that I'm going to go ahead and begin the next book and see how things go.
Like we still have no idea who the masked vigilante is and although I have my suspicions I'd really like to find out for sure but I'm really hoping the story becomes a bit more clearer.
It's almost like the author has tried to throw in a few too many genres in one book, a severely abused female protagonist, a love triangle, a second chance romance, and then a little mafia action on the side.
It's just a little too much going on and that makes it hard to keep up with the story. Now, as far as the audio, now that I've listened to quite a few reads, I know a bit more about what exactly I'M looking for.
Hart did a great job at differentiating the female and male voices BUT there were a couple of male characters with dialogue and those voices were very similar.
If I drifted off from the book for a few minutes I would need to rewind or really listen to figure out which male character the dialogue was coming from.
I did like the way she changed her tone during emotional dialogue when the character was upset, it was almost like her voice shook.
I could really FEEL the emotion she was putting into the scene. I'm interested to see how things go in book two, Forged in Flames.
NA romance, college romance. Intriguing new start to this trilogy. You want emotions you say? This was truly an amazing book.
I was pulled in and did not surface again until ten minutes after I read the last page. Brava Ivy. This was a fantastic read.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. I love when you get the past and then present time of characters.
We all can remember being young and having a crush on some boy. First crushes die hard and the same can be said for Summer and the boy who lives next door to her.
A boy she is suddenly taken away from when she has to move. They write to each other until he one day just stops. Fast forward and Summer or Sadie as she's called now is in coll I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Fast forward and Summer or Sadie as she's called now is in college. She meets a whole cast of characters who play a role through the entire book.
Made of Steel is filled with danger and susense and different from other Ivy Smoak books thst I have read. You will absolutely love this book and devour ever single word and keep guessing until you don't.
Keep in mind this is the first book in Ivy Smoak's Made Of Steel Series so you should expect a cliffhanger Just don't throw your kindle and know that the extra book will be coming soon.
It is certainly a story I'm glad I didn't miss Made of Steel was a total surprise for me. I snagged the book because the kindle version was free.
Then, I snagged the audiobook! Having said that, I kind of went into the book without much knowledge. I have never read this author before, and I didn't remember anything from the synopsis.
The story is about a young woman in witness protection. She is 18 and has been shipped off to NYC-a city she did NOT want to live in, and to a college she didn't want to attend!
But, she is glad to be free Made of Steel was a total surprise for me. But, she is glad to be free from the abusive home she was in and is trying to make the best of her new shot at life.
She meets some new friends and thinks she can move on and be 'normal' but quickly realizes that she isn't as hidden as she thought!
Sadie's past is the big mystery that slowly gets peeled away for the reader, but she also runs into a boy from her past in Miles, her new RA.
Miles doesn't know Sadie is Summer; they haven't spoken in years and they have a complicated friendship. Then, Sadie's new roommate quickly befriends some guys and Sadie ends up dating Eli.
All these friendships build as the story delves deeper into why Sadie had to run and you begin to question everything. Literally, everything! What is real, what is deception, what doesn't Sadie know The center of the story for me is the NYC vigilante.
This mystery man has been saving people in the city and Sadie is determined to figure out who and why. Of course, with the danger now facing Sadie, she becomes entwined with the vigilante quickly.
We don't know WHO he is yet though! Made of Steel made me weep for Summer, cheer for Sadie's strength, and question the motives everyone in her new life!
I was never quite sure where the story was going to go-and even Sadie struggles with what she really thinks on many things.
Elizabeth Hart is a great narrator and brings the story to life. Fans of romantic suspense will devour the story and fans of new adult romance will delight at the plot twists!
At the end of the story, Sadie has slept with the vigilante, but she doesn't know who he is yet. Made of Steel. Holy smoking ovaries!
I was utterly and completely enamored with the characters in the story. I felt the pain, the betrayal, the lust, the love and the ever niggling fear that someone was watching Summer.
A tale of a young girl who lost everything dear to her early on in life. Her angst was palatable through the pages and my heart bled for her as the story progressed.
There were times when I was like, "Listen to your damn gut, girl! Was that so terrible? Bumping into her best friend and first love, Miles, didn't help matters.
Unable to divulge who she truly was, she had to pretend to be Sadie and fight the compulsion to have him close to her once more, because that could never be.
In order to keep him safe and out of the clutches of her sadistic foster father and not blow her cover, she needed to forget the life she once lived, the love she once loved.
And let's not forget the sexy vigilante that constantly saves her ass from getting handed to her! Like Ivy said, there is something about a man in a mask.
Can't wait to start book 2! Superhero thriller - loved it. This book sucked me in form the start - I downloaded a sample and knew within minutes I would buy the book.
I was on edge for the whole read. Loved The Arrow on Netflix and this reminded me a bit of him. Enjoyed the plot so far. I have my theories and can't wait to see if I'm right about it - I just bought the second book, will be inhaling it soon.
I will keep Ivy Smoak on my radar as an author to follow, I enjoy her writing style. I received an advanced copy and let me just say If you have read other books by Ivy, the writing will blow you away like every other book of hers does but the genre is different from her typical romance.
She might be 8 years old but she is in love with the boy next door, Miles. When life happens and she has to move, they write each other until he stops replying.
Present day Summer now known as Sadie, is s I received an advanced copy and let me just say Kins and Patrick hit it off as Eli tries to get know Sadie.
Kins decided that she was going to sow her wild oats, has her eyes set on Miles, despite continuing to hook up with Patrick.
Eli and Sadie have a class together and are paired up to work on a project. They decide to do it on The NYC vigilante. The vigilante comes to light when he captures two bank robbers.
It is speculated on blogs that he took the money to pay off rent, hospital bills and other outstanding debts on some people of NYC.
Sadie hiding from her past, always feels like someone is watching her. As she spends time with Eli, she starts to feel safe with him.
When she gets an off campus job, Eli agrees to walk her home at night. One day they start to progress their relationship and Eli discovers bruises that Sadie is hiding.
As Sadie grows close to Eli, she panics and pushes him away. Now that he knows about the previous abuse, he claims to join a boxing club to be able to protect Sadie but it causes them to grow apart.
Sadie starts to grow suspicious of him, especially when he shows signs of being controlling. Sadie had a few close calls, and the vigilante comes to her rescue.
They become intrigued with each other. She knows that he is always watching her but he tells her that someone else is too. She start to suspect everyone around her, especially Eli.
When she finally gets the chance to go to his dorm, she finds that he has very little personal affects. No pictures from home, nothing decorating his walls, and his iPod doesn't have music on it As Sadie becomes increasingly more suspicious of everyone, she realizes that she didn't think twice about someone who could be the end of her and everyone in her new life.
What happens next no one knows but I suspect that cucumbers, platinum vagines, more naps and even more suspense and maybe some cheese pasta will be waiting for us.
Made of Steel Wow! Summer aka Sadie and Miles. Way to get me hooked from the get go Ivy. Very emotional ride. Eli, Sadie, Miles And the Vigilante!
Lots of chemistry coming from everyone. Summer's story is very heartbreaking - with what she had to go thru and ensure at such a young age.
Definitely had me on the edge of my seat and yes, I did cry. Ivy breathes life into her books and I can't wait to see what's next Stay tuned This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers.
To view it, click here. Well all I have to say is that Ivy Smoak sure knows how to keep you on your toes when reading her books.
Spoilers alert! I couldn't believe how Miles and Summer were separated all of her tragedy that happened to her when she was little and growing up.
I especially keep wondering how she wound up in foster care with only a man and not a complete family. Is Miles and the vigilante one and the same?
Who is really Mr Crawford Well all I have to say is that Ivy Smoak sure knows how to keep you on your toes when reading her books.
Its intriguing interesting and has you suspecting in everyone you have no idea what to believe in. I love it just has much as The Hunted series and I thought that wasn't possible.
Great book Really gripping, very hard to put down and I cannot wait to start the second book. Would definitely recommend it.
Honestly, I'm not sure how to even review this book. This might be more of someone else's type of genre, but it didn't fit me at all.
And heads up, this is most definitely a cliff-hanger ending. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. I felt for the characters, but I thought they made the dumbest decisions.
Seriously, the book is so all-over-the-place, I can't even figure it out. The first person style wasn't bad, and really helped with the "What the heck is going on?
I didn't find much romance in it See how this review is written? You're just not sure what to think or what I'm trying to say That's how I feel about this book.
I'm glad others are able to enjoy it, but it isn't for me. That's a bit pricey. This series is a must read! Keeps you on the edge of your seat!
Keeps you excited, makes you laugh, and definitely leaves you wanting more! Sep 06, Victoria Grimes rated it it was amazing.
I knew exactly what I was expecting when I picked up Made of Steel, but what I got blew my expectations out of the water.
Have you ever felt like you were in a reading slump? I was in such a slump right before I picked up this book.
Made of Steel, by Ivy Smoak, began in a relatively straightforward manner. Girl immediately falls in love with the boy right back.
